King Italian Greyhound is a state registered breeder specialist in raising pure breed Italian Greyhound puppies. Our name King comes from our many years of raising this lovely dog breed. We have owned and raised Italian Greyhound for more than 20 years. The Italian Greyhound is a toy-sized Greyhound. His size makes him a great family companion and at the same time a skilled hunting dog. The breed is officially recognized by the Kennel Club. Despite the Italian Greyhound’s size, this dog breed inherits the sweet and affectionate disposition of its taller Greyhound relatives. He is very adaptable and can live anywhere. Whilst the Italian Greyhound is quite energetic, he is low on stamina. Forty minutes to an hour of exercise and mental stimulation will suffice. As a low-shedding dog, the Italian Greyhound has minimal grooming needs. He is also considered hypoallergenic which makes him an ideal companion for dog lovers with allergies.

ABOUT ITALIAN GREYHOUND

Brought to Europe by the Phoenicians sea traders 2000 thousand years ago, the Italian Greyhound is a slim toy dog version of the Greyhound. It was bred small to develop a more robust hunter and companion. The little sighthounds won the favor of many European nobles especially in Italy where it became extremely popular in the 16th century, hence the name. Depictions of Italian Greyhounds are seen in the artwork of Giotto, Bosch and Memling. They were said to be the most favoured dogs in the royal courts of James I of England Frederick the Great of Prussia, Queen Anne of Denmark, Catherine the Great of Russia and Queen Victoria. During World War I, the breed was close to becoming extinct in England. Luckily, there were a few Italian Greyhounds imported to America, albeit a low number. British breeders used these American-bred Italian Greyhounds to revive the breed in Europe. The Italian Greyhound is KC registered.

OUR STORY

Thanks for visiting our website. I am called Blake Owen. The Owen’s family are the owners of King Italian Greyhound. My wife and I are pet lovers so we took up the initiative to breed these lovely dog breed to satisfy the needs of families who will want to own or add a new member to their family. My knowledge about the Italian Greyhound has grown as the years go by as they are a dog breed which are very smart and make us learn new things everyday. My history with owning a puppy goes right back to my Christmas holidays when I was 10 years old. My parents bought me a lovely Italian Greyhound puppy which I named Liam. Liam gave me a lot of childhood memories when I was growing as a teen. He was more than a best friend to me. He was so lovely and friendly. Each time I got angry back then about something, Liam was always there to console me and make me smile again. I always thought he could talk as he understood me so much. I always speak to him at times hoping he will respond. Everywhere I went to, Liam was with me. I met my wife in college.We were very good friends back then. She loved Liam until she insisted on her parents to get her the Italian Greyhound. That was how our love for this lovely dog breed grew up. Our dogs use to play together. Unfortunately in our later years at college, I lost my lovely puppy Liam. We grew up loving each other so much and loving this dog breed. Later on, we got married and with our love for Italian Greyhound, we decided to breed and raise this dog breed and why not educate puppy lovers about the importance of owning an Italian Greyhound puppy. Fast forward to today, we breed this lovely dog breed in our 3 acres of land where our puppies have enough space to play around. My family and I are dedicated to help everyone own the perfect, healthy puppy for their home. With our knowledge of this dog breed from childhood, we will say Italian Greyhound are the best dogs to own.
